Saratoga Springs, NY
This past weekend I visited Saratoga Springs, NY for a college alumni event (proud Skidmore alum!) and was enamored, as always, by how much the town epitomizes everything wonderful about fall.
Being back on campus, the energy from the start of a new school year is evident; students are out socializing and posters plaster the walls detailing upcoming events.
Back in town, the shops have new window displays, restaurants are serving up new menus, and the farmer's market is as full as ever.
When I was a college student in Saratoga, I spent a good chunk of time in the library. I would arrive early, guaranteeing a desk with a window nook and an over-sized reading chair nearby, knowing I'd be camped out in the spot for hours (maybe the whole day). I was most productive in a space that felt cozy, warm, and had a view of the amazing foliage outside. By the end of the day, my alcove inevitably would become crowded with coffee mugs, books, and papers; a perfectly lived-in space.
While I don't spent quite as much time holed-up in the library now, I do still look forward to creating an inviting fall space that evokes the comforting feelings of those fall academic days.
Here are the home items I would want to re-create my favorite reading nook:
A cozy chair is an absolute necessity. I'd pair with these pillows and this throw, keeping the color palate light, but still warm.
Stay up late with this gorgeous floor lamp.
And to keep all of your reading materials (see my favorites below) in order, use this mirrored side table, while burning this candle, and inspire yourself with this decorative globe close by.
What's on my side table?
An all-time favorite, my current read, an anticipated new-release.
